This weekend, members of Bloxom VFC, Onancock VFD, Melfa VFD, Painter VFD and Accomack County DPS came together for a couple days of extrication training on school busses. Instructors from the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads traveled to the Eastern Shore Regional Fire Training Center to assist us in some much needed "tool time".
Personnel worked on lifting, disassembling and stabilizing a full-size school bus, as well as passenger vehicles that the bus had flipped over onto, simulating trapped patients in need of rescue.
We would like to thank all members and departments that participated to make our commitment to providing education and practical evolutions for a more capable response, reality. We would also like to the thank the Accomack County Schools for donating the bus for use in this training. It was a great weekend to train together and bring departments together to work with one another.
